David Coulthard might enter the DTM Series upcoming season, as the Scottish driver is reportedly on his way to doing a testing session with Mercedes-Benz prior to the start of the 2010 programme. DC was rumored to be considering the switch to DTM for 2010, but it was only now that he confirmed he'll test for the German manufacturer in the next few weeks.

Although he didn't reveal the exact date on which he is scheduled to take the wheel of an AMG Mercedes C-Klasse (also, we don't know is he will test a one-year old car or the new 2010 machinery), Coulthard made it very clear that the testing idea was all Mercedes'.

“The guys at Mercedes, with whom I have long been friends, have organized for me a day of (DTM) testing,” said DC, who has been a Mercedes works driver in the Formula One Championship for no less than 9 years, prior to his switch to Red Bull Racing.

Coulthard has driven for McLaren Mercedes since 1996 and until 2004, when he was ousted to make room for Juan Pablo Montoya. From that point on, he was a valuable asset to Red Bull's new F1 team, for whom he worked as a driver (2005-2008) and as a consultant (2008-present).

In parallel with his Red Bull commitments, DC is also a commentator for the broadcaster of Formula One in the UK, BBC. He actually renewed his deal with the British company for the 2010 season also, which makes his DTM programme (if any) less probable.

Nevertheless, the Scottish veteran will do the testing session, even if only for fun. For now, he is enjoying his time at the world cup ski races at Kitzbuhel, in Austria.

Be interesting to see if he can adapt to the different style of racing. He was always the bridesmaid in F1, can DTM make him the Bride????

He's driving a two-year old car..... Qualified 17th on the grid out of 18 and finished 12th in the race..... Not bad but room for improvement... :|

Great quali from DC there. Really interesting interview with him on Autosport. He seems so relaxed just saying if the DTM switch works then great if not then fair enough. Great way to relieve any pressure (perceived or not).
